The rules, step by step
Setup
To set up Green Team Wins, each player receives a personal whiteboard and a dry-erase marker. The game includes different types of prompt cards (e.g., 'This or That,' 'Fill in the Blank,' 'Best of Three'). Five cards of each type are selected and shuffled together to create a single draw pile. Each player starts on the 'Orange Team,' indicated by their team token. If playing with more than six players, additional whiteboards can be used, or players can share boards or use paper and pencil.
Objective
The objective of Green Team Wins is to accumulate the most points by the end of the game. Points are awarded to players who successfully guess the most popular answer to a given prompt. The game encourages players to think like the group rather than focusing solely on their personal preferences, aiming to align their answers with what they believe others will choose.
On your turn
Each round begins with a player drawing the top card from the shuffled deck and reading the prompt aloud. All players then simultaneously write down their answer to the prompt on their whiteboards. Once everyone has written an answer, all players reveal their whiteboards at the same time. The answers are then compared to determine which one was chosen by the majority of players.
Scoring
Scoring is straightforward: if a player's answer matches the most popular answer among all players, they earn one point and flip their team token to the 'Green Team' side. If there's a tie for the most popular answer, all players who chose one of the tied answers receive a point and join the Green Team. If there is no single most popular answer (e.g., all players chose different answers), no one scores points in that round, and all players revert to the 'Orange Team.'
Game end
The game concludes after 15 rounds, which corresponds to the number of cards in the draw pile. Once all cards have been played and points have been tallied for the final round, players count their total accumulated points. The player with the highest score is declared the winner of Green Team Wins.
Tips
A key strategy in Green Team Wins is to anticipate what other players will choose, rather than simply picking your favorite option. This often involves considering common knowledge, stereotypes, or the specific preferences of the group you're playing with. Engaging in friendly banter and discussion during the game can also enhance the social experience, even if it doesn't directly impact your score. The game is designed to be light-hearted and social, making it enjoyable for both seasoned gamers and those new to board games.
