はぐれちゃやーよ (Hagurecha yaーyo)

はぐれちゃやーよ (Hagurecha yaーyo) is a card game from Japan, in which the players are trying to identify which one of fifteen different couples are splitting.

The game has a deck of 30 cards of 15 couples, and each card has a special ability that is triggered when it is played or when it is held. The deck is shuffled and one card is placed face down in secret. The players are dealt the remaining cards (they don't have to be evenly shared).

Players then take turns drawing a card from their left neighbour. If the player can determine which is the secret card, they can declare it and check if it is correct. If so, points are scored by all players. Otherwise, they lay their hand out and are out of the round.

Alternately, the player might have a matching couple in their hand, and can choose to play these down into the open, or keep them in hand. A player that exhausts their hand is out and will lose one point in the round.

If only one player remains, they have a chance to declare the secret card and then the round ends.

Points are scored by adding the number of cards in hand plus 1 pt, scoring positively for a correct declaration and negatively for anybody else.

After three rounds, the player with the most points wins.

The game also has two marriage declaration cards and these are used in an alternate game, where a player is trying to get both declarations cards and only one person card in their hand. At this point, they declare which player they are marrying and lay their hand out for the win. user summary
