Hellapagos

Players are shipwrecked on a deserted island. The game board is set up to represent the island, with designated areas for collecting water, fishing, and gathering wood. Resource tracks for water and food are placed, starting at levels dependent on the number of players. Each player receives a hand of action cards and a character token. The raft construction track is also set up, indicating how many wood pieces are needed to build each section of the raft.

The primary objective is for all players to cooperate and build a raft with enough capacity for everyone to escape the island. This must be achieved before a hurricane strikes, or before the entire group perishes from lack of food or water. While cooperation is key, the game introduces elements of betrayal and tough decisions, as resources may become scarce, forcing players to make difficult choices about who survives.

Each player's turn consists of several phases. First, players can perform actions such as collecting water (by drawing a weather card to see if it rains), fishing (by drawing a fish token to determine the catch), or gathering wood (by advancing a marker on the wood track). Some actions carry risks, like encountering snakes while gathering wood. After all players have taken their actions, the group must consume food and water. If there aren't enough resources for everyone, players must vote to eliminate one or more individuals to ensure the survival of the remaining group.

Hellapagos is a cooperative game with no individual scoring. All players win or lose as a single unit. If the entire group successfully builds a raft with enough space for everyone and has enough food and water for one additional turn (to represent the journey), they all win. Conversely, if all players die, or if the hurricane arrives and the raft is not complete or there aren't enough resources for the escape, everyone loses.

The game can end in three ways. The players win if they successfully build a raft with enough places for all survivors and have sufficient food and water for one extra turn, allowing them to escape the island. The players lose if all of them die due to starvation, dehydration, or other hazards. Finally, the game also ends in a loss if the hurricane card is drawn from the event deck, and the players have not yet completed the raft or do not have enough resources to sustain the journey for all remaining survivors.
