Horrified: Dungeons & Dragons

Set up the board representing regions like Waterdeep and Undermountain. Distribute item tokens from the Havversack bag, place citizen and monster miniatures on their starting locations, and set the terror track to zero. Each player chooses a unique hero with special abilities, and the game is configured for two monsters, such as the Displacer Beast and Red Dragon.

Players work together cooperatively to vanquish asymmetric monsters specific to the Dungeons & Dragons universe. The core mission is to solve each monster's unique puzzle mechanics while rescuing and guiding citizens to safety across the map before the terror marker reaches the end of the track or the monster deck is depleted.

A player's turn is divided into two phases: the hero phase and the monster phase. During the hero phase, characters perform up to their allotted actions, including moving, picking up items, guiding citizens, sharing tokens, taking special character actions, and attempting puzzle or defeat actions. Following this, the monster phase requires drawing a monster card, spawning items or events, resolving monster actions, and moving or attacking heroes and citizens based on dice rolls.

Success is measured by successfully completing monster-specific puzzles, such as uncovering lairs, moving orbs through vaults, and turning in item values to defeat the monsters. Defeating a monster lowers the terror track by one level, bringing the team closer to victory.

The cooperative game ends in victory when all active monsters are successfully defeated. Conversely, the players lose immediately if the terror marker reaches the final space on the terror track or if the monster deck runs out of cards before all monsters are vanquished.
