Imperial Settlers: Amazons

To set up Imperial Settlers: Amazons, first replace the two sets of 10 Roman faction cards from the base game with the new Egyptian cards provided in this expansion. Then, add the Amazons faction board and their corresponding faction cards to the game. Additionally, integrate the new common buildings and any mini-expansion cards (New Friends, Three Is Not Enough, That's a Lot of Wood) into their respective decks. A score marker is also included, though it may need to be requested separately if not initially present.

The primary objective for the Amazons, like other factions in Imperial Settlers, is to accumulate the most victory points by the end of the game. The Amazons achieve this through a unique strategy focused on deck streamlining and leveraging powerful build bonuses from their faction buildings. They aim to efficiently cycle their cards and utilize their combat prowess to gain an advantage over opponents.

During the production phase, Amazons automatically gain a foundation card, which can be used to pay for building costs. Unlike other factions, Amazons can store up to three resources (food, wood, stone, or workers) between rounds, offering greater flexibility in resource management. Their faction buildings typically do not provide production or advantage effects but instead grant powerful build bonuses when constructed. A key mechanic involves recycling faction buildings: when an Amazon faction building is sacrificed for its build cost, it is shuffled back into the player's deck rather than being discarded, allowing for repeated use of its build bonus.

Scoring in Imperial Settlers: Amazons follows the standard rules of Imperial Settlers. Players earn victory points primarily from built locations, which have varying point values. Additional points can be gained from trade agreements, specific faction abilities, and certain common buildings. The included score marker is used to track each player's accumulated victory points throughout the game.

The game concludes after five rounds of play. At the end of the fifth round, players tally their total victory points from all sources. The player with the highest total victory points is declared the winner. In case of a tie, the player with the most unspent resources or cards in hand may win, as per the base game rules.
