Inspektor Nase

To set up the game, place the clue card in the center of the table. Shuffle all 54 image cards, then take the top 25 cards and place them face-down as a draw pile. The remaining image cards are returned to the box. Draw the top 5 image cards from the draw pile and place them face-up in a row to the right of the clue card, numbering them 1 through 5 from left to right. The 8 dice are placed in front of the player chosen to be the first Inspector Nose. Inspector Nose shuffles the 5 numbered cards (1-5), secretly looks at one, and places it face-down in front of them. This card indicates the target image card that other players must identify.

The objective of Inspektor Nase is a cooperative one: all players work together to correctly identify the target image card chosen by the Inspector Nose. They do this by using clues provided by the Inspector Nose through dice rolls to eliminate incorrect image cards from the row. The team wins by successfully identifying the target card within five rounds, aiming for a high score based on the number of eliminated cards.

The Inspector Nose begins their turn by rolling 5 dice. From the results, they select one die symbol that they believe provides the best clue for the other players to identify the target image card. This chosen die is placed on the clue card. The Inspector Nose must remain silent and avoid any verbal or non-verbal communication (e.g., eye movements, gestures) that could give away the target card. The other players then discuss the meaning of the chosen die symbol and its relation to the visible image cards. Based on their discussion, they collectively choose one image card that they believe is incorrect and eliminate it from the row. If the eliminated card was indeed incorrect, the Inspector Nose rolls 5 dice again (taking one from the box if needed to ensure 5 dice are rolled), chooses another clue, and the process repeats. If the eliminated card was the target card, the round ends immediately.

At the end of each round, players accumulate victory points. For every image card that was correctly eliminated (meaning it was not the target card), the players earn one victory point. If the players accidentally eliminate the target card, the round ends immediately, and they still receive one victory point for each card they had correctly eliminated up to that point. The game consists of five rounds, and points are tallied across all rounds.

The game concludes after the fifth round has been played. All players then count their total accumulated victory points from all five rounds. They compare their final score to a ranking list provided in the game rules to determine their collective detective rank, ranging from 'Public Guardian' for 0-11 points to 'Master Detective' for 20 points. The game is cooperative, so all players share the same score and rank.
