The rules, step by step
Setup
To set up Jungli-La, the card deck is laid out in alphabetical order to create one long winding path across the table. Players place their starting pawns at the entrance of the path, and the treasure card deck is positioned at the very end of the line. Resource tokens, dice, and player boards are distributed to each participant, preparing everyone for the journey ahead.
Objective
The main objective of Jungli-La is to navigate your pawn along the winding jungle path, collecting resources and purchasing helpful character cards, with the ultimate goal of reaching the treasure at the end of the board and finishing with the most victory points.
On your turn
On their turn, players roll dice in a Yahtzee-style mechanic where they can choose to reroll some dice as long as at least two scroll symbols have not appeared. After locking in their dice, players collect resources corresponding to the rolled faces, taking care not to exceed their inventory storage limits. Next, players move their pawn forward based on the number of footprints rolled. During or after movement, players may spend resources to purchase the character card their pawn is currently resting on, gaining special powers and abilities for future turns.
Scoring
Players score points at the end of the game based on the victory point values printed on the character cards they successfully purchased, the treasure cards they collected by reaching the end of the path, and potentially remaining resources.
Game end
The game comes to an end as soon as a player successfully reaches the end of the path and draws the game-ending gem card from the treasure deck. Once triggered, all players tally their scores, and the player with the highest total points wins the game.
Tips
Success in Jungli-La requires a careful balance between advancing quickly down the path and pausing to gather enough resources for valuable card purchases. If you roll poorly, collect scroll tokens so you can eventually buy cards without spending standard resources, and secure extra dice slots on your player board to maximize your options each turn.
