The rules, step by step

Setup
Each player receives an easel, a dry-erase marker of the same color, and a cloth. Shuffle the cards and draw 13 at random to form a face-down deck in the middle of the table. Randomly choose a player to be the first active player.
Objective
Just One is a cooperative party game for 3-7 players where the team's goal is to help the active player guess a mystery word with the help of secret one-word clues. The challenge is that all identical clues are eliminated before being shown, so you must be original without being too cryptic, as an incorrect answer will cost you points.
On your turn
The game proceeds clockwise in several rounds. Each round has five phases: 1. Mystery Word Selection: The active player draws the top card from the deck without looking at its face and places it on their easel so that all other players can read it. Then, the active player chooses a number between 1 and 5. The corresponding word is the mystery word for the round, which the active player must guess. If you don't know the meaning of the mystery word, you can ask the active player to choose another number. 2. Clue Writing: Everyone except the active player secretly writes a one-word clue on their easel. Allowed clues include compound words, proper nouns, numbers, onomatopoeias, acronyms, or special characters. Forbidden clues include translations of the mystery word, words from the same lexical family, and invented words or homophones of the mystery word. 3. Clue Comparison: After everyone has written their clue, the active player closes their eyes. Then, all players reveal their easels, and all players' clues are compared. All identical or incorrect clues are canceled. If all clues are canceled, place the card in the game box and proceed directly to phase 5. 4. Guessing: After eliminating invalid clues, the active player opens their eyes and has one attempt to guess or can choose to pass. 5. End of Round: Each player takes their easel back and erases their clue. The player to the active player's left becomes the new active player, and a new round begins.
Scoring
If the active player guesses correctly, the round is won. Place the card face up next to the deck. This is worth one point. If the active player chooses to pass, the round is lost. Place the current card in the game box. If the active player did not guess the mystery word, the loss is double. The round is lost and penalized. Place the current card and the top card from the deck back into the box. If the deck is already empty in case of an incorrect answer, eliminate a previously won card if you have one.
Game end
The game ends when the deck of 13 cards is exhausted. Count the won cards and compare your score with the table to find out your level.
Tips
To succeed in Just One, players should aim for unique and helpful clues. Avoid common associations that other players might also think of, as duplicate clues are discarded. However, don't make your clues too obscure or difficult to understand, as the active player only gets one guess. Balancing originality with clarity is key to maximizing your score and achieving a high level.
