The primary objective in Karuba is to guide your four adventurers, each of a different color, from their starting positions on the beach to their corresponding temples located in the jungle. Players achieve this by strategically placing path tiles to create routes. Along these paths, players also aim to collect valuable gold nuggets and diamonds, which contribute to their final score. The player who accumulates the most victory points by the end of the game wins.

The rules, step by step
Setup
Each player receives a personal game board, four adventurer pawns, and four temple tokens, all in four distinct colors. Additionally, each player gets a set of 36 unique path tiles. One player shuffles their tiles and places them face down to form a draw pile. All other players arrange their tiles face up in numerical order, creating their own personal supply. Adventurers are placed on the beach spaces of their matching color, and temples are placed on the jungle spaces of their matching color, ensuring at least three empty spaces between each adventurer and its corresponding temple.
Objective
The primary objective in Karuba is to guide your four adventurers, each of a different color, from their starting positions on the beach to their corresponding temples located in the jungle. Players achieve this by strategically placing path tiles to create routes. Along these paths, players also aim to collect valuable gold nuggets and diamonds, which contribute to their final score. The player who accumulates the most victory points by the end of the game wins.
On your turn
Each round, the active player draws the top tile from their shuffled stack and announces its number. All players then take the tile with that same number from their personal supply. Players must then choose to either place the tile onto their game board or discard it to move one of their adventurers. When placing a tile, it can be placed anywhere on the board, but it cannot overlap another tile, and the number must always be in the top-left corner. If a tile with a diamond or gold nugget is placed, all players place a corresponding token on that tile. If a tile is discarded, the player may move one adventurer a number of spaces equal to the number of path ends on the discarded tile.
Scoring
Points are primarily earned by successfully guiding adventurers to their matching temples. The first player to get an adventurer to a temple claims the highest-value temple token for that color (e.g., 5 points), with subsequent players taking tokens of lower value (e.g., 3, 2, 1 points). Additionally, players score 1 point for each diamond they collect and 2 points for each gold nugget they collect. These tokens are collected when an adventurer lands on a space containing them.
Game end
The game concludes under one of two conditions: either the draw pile of path tiles is completely exhausted, meaning all 36 tiles have been drawn and played, or one player successfully connects all four of their adventurers to their respective temples. Once either of these conditions is met, players tally their victory points from collected temple tokens, gold nuggets, and diamonds. The player with the highest total score is declared the winner of Karuba.
Tips
When placing tiles, remember that they cannot be rotated; the number must always remain in the top-left corner. Adventurers can only move along existing paths and cannot move through or land on a space already occupied by another adventurer. Plan your paths carefully to maximize both temple connections and resource collection, as early temple arrivals yield more points. Also, consider discarding tiles that don't fit your path strategy to gain valuable movement for your adventurers.
