Keep the Heroes Out!

Setting up Keep the Heroes Out! involves choosing a scenario from the dungeon book, constructing the dungeon board layout using room tiles as specified, and distributing monster-specific components to each player. Additionally, you prepare the starting player hands, the loot deck, and the guild deck containing the invading heroes, ensuring all tokens and markers are within easy reach.

The main objective is cooperative dungeon defense where players act as various monster factions attempting to safeguard their hard-earned riches. Players must survive two intense waves of invading heroes, preventing them from looting the treasure room while effectively managing their dungeon's defenses and monster capabilities.

On a player's turn, they draw and play a hand of cards to perform actions such as moving through rooms, attacking heroes, producing resources, and purchasing upgrades, pets, or weapons. After a player finishes their turn, the guild phase triggers, drawing cards from the guild deck to summon, move, and activate invading heroes according to the rules flow chart.

Success in the game is measured collectively by surviving the predetermined number of waves. The group wins if they successfully repel the heroes through both waves without losing the treasure with a value of 4 in the vault, while failure is immediate if the treasure is plundered.

The game concludes immediately when either condition is met: victory is declared upon surviving the final wave of attacks, and defeat occurs as soon as the heroes successfully loot the designated vault treasure room.
