Kutná Hora: The City of Silver

To set up Kutná Hora, each player receives a player board, starting resources (money, wood, and a miner), and a hand of action cards. The main game board is assembled with various building and mine tiles, and the dynamic market boards are set up to track resource prices. Players also place their influence markers on the guild tracks and their reputation marker on the reputation track. The cathedral board is placed, and starting tiles are revealed on the market.

The objective of Kutná Hora is to become the most influential family in the burgeoning city by accumulating the most victory points. Players achieve this by strategically building mines to extract silver, constructing various public and private buildings, managing a dynamic economy where resource prices fluctuate, and gaining influence within different guilds. Efficient resource management, timely building, and adapting to market changes are crucial for success.

Each round in Kutná Hora consists of three turns per player. In your first turn, you play two action cards; in your second turn, you play two more; and in your third turn, you play one card, leaving one card for the next round. Each action card offers two possible actions, and you choose one to perform. Actions include gaining rights (to acquire building tiles), reserving land (to claim a spot for a future building), constructing buildings, mining (to place mine tiles and gain resources), contributing to the Santa Bárbara Cathedral, or collecting income. The wildcard action allows you to perform any of the other five actions but costs reputation.

Victory points are primarily earned from constructed buildings, which provide points based on adjacent matching symbols. Mines also grant victory points based on the number of stars in their level and the player's majority in contributing miners to that level. Additionally, players score points for their final reputation level, unused pelican tokens, reserved but unbuilt buildings, and for every 10 coins they possess. Influence on the guild tracks also contributes to end-game scoring, with specific conditions for each guild.

The game concludes after a predetermined number of rounds, which varies depending on the number of players (e.g., 3 rounds for 2 players, 4 rounds for 3-4 players). Once the final round is completed, players proceed to the final scoring phase. All accumulated victory points from buildings, mines, guild influence, reputation, unused pelicans, reserved buildings, and leftover money are tallied. The player with the highest total victory points is declared the winner of Kutná Hora.
