Setup

Set up the game with 8 Twists, 14 chosen Hero cards in the Villain Deck, and no Bystanders.

The rules, step by step

Setup
For this game, set up with 8 Twists in the Villain Deck. Add 14 cards of a chosen Hero (Nightcrawler in this case) to the Villain Deck. There are no Bystanders in the Villain Deck for this scenario. The Mastermind is Apocalypse, and the Villain group is the Four Horsemen.
Objective
The players win by defeating Apocalypse. Apocalypse wins if all four of his Horsemen (Famine, Pestilence, War, and Death) escape. Players also lose if 9 non-grey Heroes are either KO'd or captured.
On your turn
During a player's turn, if a Twist card is drawn from the Villain Deck, all Nightcrawler cards currently in play are KO'd, and an additional card is played from the Villain Deck. This adds an element of risk and resource management related to the Nightcrawler hero.
Scoring
Apocalypse's attack value is dynamic; he gains +2 attack for each Four Horsemen Villain that has successfully escaped the city. This means his difficulty increases as more Horsemen get away, making it crucial to prevent their escape.
Game end
The game concludes immediately if Apocalypse achieves his win condition (all Four Horsemen escape) or if the players reach their loss condition (9 non-grey Heroes are KO'd or captured). Additionally, if Apocalypse's Master Strike is drawn, players must reveal their hand and place all Heroes that cost 1 or more on top of their deck, disrupting their strategy.
Tips
Consider using X-Men and X-Force heroes, such as Iceman, Bishop, and Cable, as they align with the 'X-Cutioner's Song' theme and offer diverse abilities. Iceman has 11 blue and 3 green cards. Bishop has 8 blue, 5 red, and 1 black (Technology) card. Cable has 6 blue, 3 red, and 5 black (Technology) cards. Strategically managing your hand and hero purchases will be key to overcoming Apocalypse and his Horsemen.
