Maquis

Maquis is a solo worker-placement game set in occupied France during World War II. The setup includes the main city board, resistance worker pawns, German patrol cards, mission cards, and various resource tokens representing food, money, and weapons. Players begin with three workers in their safehouse and must manage a limited pool of resources to survive and complete operations against the occupying forces.

The primary objective is to complete two mission cards before time runs out. Players take on the role of the French Resistance, using workers to gather supplies, evade patrols, and accomplish strategic objectives across different locations in the city.

Each of the fifteen rounds represents a day, broken into three phases. First, the placement phase involves sending workers to various city locations to collect resources or perform actions. Second, the patrol phase reveals enemy patrol movements that can block locations and arrest resistance members. Third, the cleanup phase prepares the board for the next day.

Scoring and victory are binary: completing two missions results in an immediate win, while failing any loss condition results in defeat.

The game ends immediately when either two missions are successfully completed, or if a loss condition is triggered: morale drops to the lowest level, all workers are arrested and eliminated, or the 15-day time limit expires.
