Massive Darkness 2: Hellscape

Begin by priming the miniatures with Vallejo's gray primer. For the first base coat, apply two even coats of Basilicanum Gray contrast paint to all fur and skin areas of the miniature. This contrast paint provides good coverage and creates a dark base for subsequent layers. Ensure the paint is applied smoothly to create an even foundation for the miniature's texture.

The objective is to paint the miniatures quickly and efficiently while achieving a high level of detail and contrast. This involves carefully layering lighter shades of gray on the skin, painting the eyes to create a striking focal point, highlighting the horns, and adding depth to the fur and accessories.

After the Basilicanum Gray, apply Mechanicus Standard Grey to about 80% of the skin, focusing on raised areas like eyebrows, nose, cheeks, shoulders, and upper tummy. Blend this layer with a 50/50 mix of water or glaze medium and Mechanicus Standard Grey. Next, use Dawnstone on smaller, more prominent areas of the skin, followed by Administratum Gray on even smaller, most highlighted areas. For the eyes, apply White Gray as an undercoat, then Iyanen Yellow, and finally a horizontal stripe of Matt Black for the iris, with a tiny dot of Matt White on the upper part. For the horns, highlight the top and bottom edges with Mechanicus Standard Grey, then Dawnstone on smaller edges, and optionally glaze with Bugman's Glow and highlight with Karak Stone. Dry brush the fur with Bugman's Glow, ensuring the brush is only slightly moist, then highlight with Karak Stone. Paint the axe grips with Wyldwood, the metal parts with Gun Metal, and wash both with Nuln Oil. For the leader, paint jewelry with Weapon Bronze and leather straps with Karak Stone, shading both with Aggrax Earthshade.
