The rules, step by step
Setup
To set up Meadow, place the main meadow board in the center of the play area alongside the campfire board. Separate cards by their back letters and load them into the designated cardboard card boxes representing the cardinal directions, while keeping the North deck separate. Distribute one initial two-sided terrain card, path markers, bonus tokens, and route pieces to each player according to player count.
Objective
Players act as nature observers exploring the landscape. The main goal is to score the most victory points by observing animals, gathering plants, discovering landscapes, and achieving common goals around the campfire.
On your turn
During a turn, a player takes one of their action marker pieces and places it into an available slot on either the main board or the campfire board. On the main board, this allows them to collect specific cards from rows based on the marker's number. On the campfire board, players trade route pieces for special actions. Players then play cards from their hand onto their player area by meeting prerequisites.
Scoring
Scoring is calculated at the end of the game by summing the printed point values on all played observation and landscape cards, adding points from completed campfire goals, and including any remaining bonus tokens.
Game end
The game concludes after a set number of rounds determined by the player count. Once the final round ends, players tally their scores to determine the winner, with tie-breakers decided by most discovery cards.
Tips
Pay close attention to card prerequisites and plan your path card placements early to ensure you can afford higher-value animal and plant cards later in the game.
