Medici: The Card Game

To set up Medici: The Card Game, each player receives a player board and a starting amount of money, which varies based on the number of players. The goods cards are shuffled and placed face down to form a draw pile. The money tokens are placed in a central pile, accessible to all players. Each player also receives a ship token to mark their current ship's capacity.

The objective of Medici: The Card Game is for players to accumulate the most valuable goods and money over the course of three rounds. Players achieve this by strategically drawing and claiming goods cards to fill their ships, aiming for both high-value individual cards and majorities in specific goods categories, which are then converted into money.

During a player's turn, they can choose to draw between one and three cards from the goods deck. After drawing, they must decide whether to take one to three of the most recently flipped cards to their ship or pass. If they pass, they take no cards this turn. If they take cards, they must take the most recently flipped card and can optionally take up to two more cards, as long as those cards were among the two most recently flipped. Each ship has a maximum capacity (7 cards in a 2-player game, 5 cards in a 3-6 player game).

At the end of each round, players score money in two ways. First, players receive money for having the most valuable ship (sum of points on cards), with the amount depending on player count and their rank. Second, for each of the five types of goods, the player with the most of that good receives 10 points, and the player with the second most receives 5 points. All goods from a player's ship are then moved to their warehouse, and the ship is emptied for the next round.

The game concludes after three full rounds of play. After the final scoring, players tally their total money from all rounds and any bonus points from their warehouses. The player who has accumulated the highest total amount of money is declared the winner of Medici: The Card Game.
