Milites Antico: 500a.C.-1490d.C.

These rules (in Italian) allow two players to recreate, on a small table, a pitched battle with miniatures (of any scale) from the ancient and medieval period, between 500 BC and 1490.

During this period, while taking into account the tactical variations of different historical periods, the clash between two armies was based on melee between opposing formations, often preceded by long-range fire to weaken the enemy, before the actual physical clash. This method of combat would be completely revolutionized by the introduction of firearms.

The system allows for battle resolution without losing tactical depth: the appendix provides a standard structure for creating an infinite series of linear historical campaigns, ideal for placing miniature battles within a broader and more engaging strategic context. Each player must consider the strengths and weaknesses of the units deployed. The main challenge will be maintaining control of the formations as the battle progresses: they will have to choose how best to employ the resources at their disposal.

The strength of the rulebook is the number of miniatures needed to create an army: on average, 16-20 bases, including all possible options. There is no set number of miniatures per base, allowing you to collect different armies, allowing you to experiment with new tactics for each new battle.
