Setting up Minos: Dawn of the Bronze Age involves placing the main game board, sorting the decree and resource decks, and distributing player boards, starting resources, and unique player abilities. Each player begins with a set amount of coins, warfare assets, and specific starting cards according to their drafted setup parameters to ensure an asymmetrical start.

The main objective is to establish dominance over the ancient realm of Crete by earning the most victory points across four rounds. Players achieve this by cleverly managing resources, drafting influential decree cards, constructing strategic buildings, and expanding their network of warriors across different regions.

Each round starts with rolling and sorting dice by value, which players then draft clockwise and assign to various action spaces. After drafting, players advance on tracks, resolve major actions like preparing or developing cards, expanding onto the board, and building structures, concluding each round with an income phase.

Scoring happens periodically, with mid-game scoring after round two focusing on established farms, dominance, and player presence. Final scoring at the end of round four calculates points from remaining resources, built structures, active decree cards, and final regional dominance checks, including battles against remaining Sea Peoples.

The game officially ends upon the completion of the fourth and final round, after which players proceed through the comprehensive final scoring phase to tally up points from farms, regions, and palace cards to determine the ultimate winner.
