Mists over Carcassonne

Set up Mists over Carcassonne by preparing three randomized face-down stacks of 20 tiles each. Keep 15 blue ghost figures in reserve. Place two scoring dogs on the scoring track at spaces 15 and 50 to track your progress toward checkpoints. Place the starting central tile on the play area, and make sure all follower meeples are sorted by color in groups of three.

The main objective is to score 100 points on the scoring track to win the cooperative game, while managing the threatening ghost population.

On your turn, draw a tile from the active stack and place it adjacent to existing tiles, matching land types. If fog banks are formed or extended, place the indicated number of ghost figures on them. You may then place one follower meeple onto the tile to claim a road, castle, or start clearing cemeteries.

Score points for completing roads and castles, with bonus points for shields. When closing fog areas or clearing cemeteries with adjacent tiles, you can remove ghost figures. Alternatively, you can spend points instead of scoring to banish ghosts from troublesome areas.

The game ends immediately when you reach 100 points for a victory, or when the final tile stack runs out and intermediate point thresholds were not met, resulting in defeat.
