The rules, step by step
Setup
To set up, place the Monopoly board in the center of the play area. Shuffle the Chance cards (orange back) and Community Chest cards (blue back) and place them face down on their designated spots on the board. Create a bank area nearby, organizing the game's money, title deed cards, green house pieces, and red hotel pieces. One player is chosen as the banker, responsible for managing the bank's assets (money, deeds, houses, hotels) in addition to playing as a regular player. The banker gives each player $1500 from the bank, including themselves, ensuring personal money is kept separate from bank money. Each player selects one token to represent themselves and places it on the Go space. To determine the starting player, each player rolls both dice, and the player with the highest total goes first (re-rolling ties).

On your turn
On your turn, you roll both dice and move your token clockwise around the board the total number of spaces indicated. After moving, you take actions based on the space you landed on. If you roll doubles, you resolve the actions for the space you landed on and then get to roll the dice again for another turn. This continues as long as you keep rolling doubles. However, if you roll doubles three times in a row, you are immediately sent directly to Jail instead of moving or resolving the third space you would have landed on. If two or more tokens land on the same space, it is perfectly fine.
Scoring
Players earn money primarily through rent collection. When an opponent lands on a property you own, they must pay you rent. The rent amount is listed on the property's title deed card and varies based on whether you own the full color set (double rent), and how many houses or hotels are built on the property. Passing or landing on the Go space earns you $200 from the bank. Certain Chance and Community Chest cards may also award you money. The game's economy is driven by these transactions, with players aiming to accumulate wealth and deplete opponents' funds.
Game end
The game ends when all but one player has gone bankrupt. A player goes bankrupt if they owe money to another player or the bank and cannot raise enough cash by selling buildings, mortgaging properties, or trading assets to cover their debt. When a player goes bankrupt, they are out of the game. The last player remaining who has not gone bankrupt is declared the winner.
Tips
To maximize your chances of winning, actively seek to complete color sets as this significantly increases the rent you can charge. Building houses and hotels on your properties further boosts your income, but remember to build evenly across properties in a color set. Always be vigilant and demand rent from opponents who land on your properties, as failure to do so before the next player rolls the dice means you miss out on that payment. Manage your money carefully; if you need cash, you can sell buildings back to the bank for half their cost or mortgage properties (which prevents rent collection until unmortgaged). You can trade properties, money, and Get Out of Jail Free cards with other players at any time, but houses and hotels cannot be sold to other players, only back to the bank.
