Mystery of the Abbey

At the start of Mystery of the Abbey, players receive personal investigation sheets and a screen to hide their notes. A number of suspect cards are secretly removed to determine the guilty party, while the remaining suspect cards are distributed among the players. Each player also takes their monk pawn and places it on the central Ecclesiastical room of the game board.

The main goal is to successfully identify the monk who committed the murder. Players must gather clues by moving around the abbey, questioning rivals, and eliminating suspects from their private deduction sheet faster than their opponents.

Each turn begins with the active player ringing the bell and advancing the marker. The player then moves their monk up to two spaces on the modular abbey board. Depending on the room they enter, they can trigger specific actions such as drawing suspect cards, asking questions to opponents who must answer honestly, or claiming special advantages. Mass events and round progression add dynamic twists to player movement and card sharing.

Points are awarded at the end of the game based on successful accusations of the murderer or specific suspects. Correctly guessing identities yields high positive points, while false accusations incur penalties. The player with the highest total score wins.

The game concludes when a player successfully unmasks the killer or when all potential suspects on the board have been investigated and declared. Final scoring is then calculated to determine the winner.
