Notre Dame

Each player receives a player board representing their district, nine influence markers of their color, and a hand of nine action cards. The game board is assembled with various district tiles, and a central Notre Dame tile. Money tokens and bonus tiles are placed as indicated.

The primary objective of Notre Dame is to accumulate the most victory points by the end of the game. Players achieve this by effectively managing their district, contributing to the construction of the Notre Dame cathedral, and influencing various characters in the city.

The game consists of three rounds, each with five phases. In phase one, character cards are revealed. In phase two, players draft three action cards from a hand of nine, passing the remaining cards to the left. In phase three, players play two of their three chosen cards to place influence markers in corresponding districts, activating the district's effect (e.g., gaining money, moving a carriage, or reducing the rat marker). The third card is discarded face down. In phase four, players can bribe one of the three face-up character cards by paying one money token to gain its bonus. In phase five, the rat marker is advanced, potentially causing penalties for players with high rat levels.

Victory points are primarily gained through district actions, such as collecting money from the bank, moving the carriage to collect bonus tiles, and placing influence markers in the park. Points are also awarded at the end of each round based on a player's contribution to the Notre Dame cathedral, with the total points divided among players based on their influence markers there. Additionally, certain character cards provide immediate victory points or other benefits.

The game concludes after three full rounds. Players then tally their total victory points from all sources, including points from district actions, Notre Dame contributions, bonus tiles, and any remaining money. The player with the highest total victory points is declared the winner.
