Setup
Nucleum is a heavy Euro-style action-selection game for one to four players. During setup, place the main board configured for your player count in the center of the table. Each player takes a personal player board containing buildings, turbines, and mines, alongside income tracks. In reverse turn order, players select an asymmetric experiment tile that unlocks eight different technology tiles granting immediate bonuses, ongoing benefits, or end-game scoring. Players also start with initial contracts, action tiles, workers, and thaler.

On your turn
On your turn, you must choose one of three options: play an action tile from your supply, build a railway, or take a recharge action. Playing action tiles allows you to take powerful actions such as developing new tiles, urbanizing buildings, industrializing turbines and mines, contracting, or energizing structures using coal and uranium. Managing your network connections and tile placements is crucial to maximize efficiency and resource conversion.
Scoring
Victory points are accumulated throughout the game via income track bumps, milestone rewards, and successful contract fulfillments. At the end of the game, additional points are scored for energized buildings, remaining resources, advanced technology tracks, and specific end-game objectives tracked by achievement tokens and milestones.
Game end
The game does not run on a fixed number of rounds; instead, it ends dynamically when specific end-game triggers are met, such as depleting action tile stacks, fulfilling contract milestones, or exhausting specific component supplies. After the final trigger, players complete a final round, followed by comprehensive end-game scoring to crown the industrialist with the highest victory points.
