Setup

Select roles for the game using the app, ensuring three more roles than players, then deal one role card face down to each player and place the remaining three cards face down in the center.

The rules, step by step

Setup
Before starting, download the 'One Night Nordic Werewolf' app, which guides you through the game. Select the roles for your game in the app, always choosing three more roles than the number of players. For example, for five players, you'll need eight roles. Find the corresponding role cards and tokens for the selected roles. Shuffle the eight role cards and deal one face down to each player. The remaining three cards are placed face down in the center of the table. Ensure all players can reach all role cards on the table.
Objective
The objective for the werewolves is to survive the round without being revealed. The objective for the villagers is to identify and eliminate at least one werewolf. If no werewolves are killed, the werewolves win. If a werewolf is killed, the villagers win.
On your turn
The game is played over one fictional night and one fictional day. When ready, start the game in the app, which guides you through the night phase. First, all players close their eyes. Then, specific roles wake up in a set order to perform their actions. For example, werewolves open their eyes to identify each other (if you are the only werewolf, you may look at one of the three center cards). The seer may look at another player's card or two cards from the center. The robber may swap their card with another player's and then look at their new card. The troublemaker may swap two other players' cards. Before everyone opens their eyes, all players must, with closed eyes, slightly move their card to indicate that it might have been swapped. After the night phase, everyone opens their eyes, and the day phase begins.
Scoring
During the day phase, players have five minutes to discuss and debate who they believe is a werewolf. You can say anything you want, but you cannot look at any role cards on the table, including your own. The app manages the timer and counts down to the voting. When the timer runs out, all players simultaneously point to the player they believe is a werewolf. The player with the most votes must reveal their role card. If it turns out to be a villager, the werewolves win. If it's a werewolf, the villagers win. If all werewolf cards are in the center, the villagers can only win if they all receive an equal number of votes.
Game end
The game concludes after the day phase's voting and role reveal. The winning team (werewolves or villagers) is determined based on the outcome of the vote. Each round is quick, making it easy to play multiple games.
Tips
The 'One Night Nordic Werewolf' app is highly recommended as it guides you through the night phase and manages the timer for the day phase. Experiment with different roles to keep the game fresh and exciting. The rulebook and the app provide detailed explanations for all available roles, allowing you to easily incorporate them into your game for more players or varied experiences.
