Orléans

To set up the game, place the main game board and individual player boards on the table. Distribute the various resource tokens (wheat, cheese, wine, wool, iron, silk, money) and follower meeples into their designated bags. Each player receives a player board, a set of starting followers, and a colored bag. Place the event tiles in their designated spot, and set up the development track markers and goods tokens on the main board. Ensure all components are within reach for all players.

The primary objective of Orléans is to accumulate the most victory points by the end of the game. Players achieve this by strategically managing their followers, collecting resources, building trading posts and guildhalls, and advancing on various development tracks. Each action contributes to your overall strategy for point generation.

A turn in Orléans consists of several phases. First, reveal the next Hour Glass Tile to determine the event for the round. Second, award 1 coin to the player with the most farmers, and the player with the fewest farmers loses 1 coin. Third, players draw followers from their personal bags and place them on the market. Fourth, players assign their drawn followers to action spaces on their player boards or the main board. Fifth, players carry out the actions they assigned followers to, such as gaining new followers, moving across the map, or building structures. Sixth, resolve the event revealed at the start of the round. Finally, pass the Start Player Token to the next player.

At the end of the game, victory points are calculated based on several factors. Players score points for each good they have collected, with different goods having varying point values (e.g., silk is worth 5 points, grain is worth 1 point, money is worth 1 point). Additionally, players' progress on the development track for books and people, as well as the number of guildhalls they have built, contribute to a score multiplier. The total number of people (followers) and guildhalls you have out on the board are added together and then multiplied by your position on the development track to determine a significant portion of your final score.

The game concludes after 18 rounds, which is tracked by the Hour Glass Tiles. Once the final event has been resolved and all actions for the 18th round are completed, players proceed to the final scoring phase. During this phase, all victory points from collected goods, money, and the multiplied score from the development track, people, and guildhalls are tallied. The player with the highest total victory points is declared the winner.
