Pacific War in 1 Hour

Pacific War in 1 Hour is a strategic-level wargame simulating the Pacific Theater from early 1942 to the end of 1945. Players assume the roles of the Imperial Japanese command or the Allied command, directing operations across a simplified map of the Pacific. The game abstracts naval, air, and land operations into a monthly cycle, emphasizing the shifting balance of power during the war.

The central objective depends on the side chosen. Japan seeks either to secure key forward positions—Hawaii and Ceylon—or to maintain control of the Home Islands through the final month of 1945. The Allies win by advancing across the Pacific and capturing the Japanese Home Islands. Both sides must manage limited resources, deploy reinforcements, and time their offensives against an opponent following the same strategic calendar.

Gameplay is driven by alternating Operations Phases within each monthly turn. Players choose whether to move forces, launch attacks, or reposition fleets. Naval forces are represented by maneuverable task-force markers, while individual ships provide combat strength on separate fleet sheets. Land units advance through area-to-area combat, and naval battles unfold through carrier engagements and gunnery exchanges using a consistent 1d6-based resolution system.

Although streamlined, the game preserves the essential strategic dilemmas of the Pacific War: committing fleets across wide distances, coordinating amphibious assaults, responding to enemy breakthroughs, and balancing production against losses. The monthly turn structure creates a clear narrative of expansion, counterattack, and attrition that mirrors the historical tempo of the conflict.
