Setup

Players each receive a starting hand of cards, and a row of cards is laid out in the center.

The rules, step by step

Setup
To set up Parade, each player receives a starting hand of cards from the deck, and a specific number of cards are laid out in a central row to form the parade. The remaining deck is placed nearby to draw from.
Objective
The goal is to navigate the parade of colorful Alice in Wonderland characters carefully, avoiding collecting penalty points while trying to secure majority sets of certain colors to minimize your score.
On your turn
On your turn, you play a card from your hand onto the end of the parade line. You count the card's numerical value to move backward that many positions in the line. From those remaining cards, you pick up any that match the color of your played card or have a number equal to or lower than your played card, adding them to your collection. Finally, you draw a replacement card from the deck.
Scoring
At game end, players sum up the face values of their collected cards. However, if you collected the most cards of any single color, each of those cards is worth only 1 point regardless of its printed number.
Game end
The game triggers its conclusion once players are down to four cards left in hand. Everyone keeps two cards, adds up their points from the collected pile and kept cards, and determines the winner.
Tips
Low-numbered cards offer less protection against being forced to take cards, while high numbers give you a larger defensive range but risk piling up high-value penalties if you miscalculate.
