In the game of Phantom Detectives, players are squad leaders of a private detective team called "Phantom Detectives". Provoked by an unidentified murderer called "Skull King", 12 detectives (one of whom is Skull King) entered a mansion loaded with death traps to identify Skull King. Some of them will be killed as they investigate. They must find out which one of 12 suspects is Skull King, and which squad other detectives belong to within time limit.

But one of detective leaders is "Shadow Man", who will deliverately confuse their deduction.
