PÜNCT

The game is played on a large hexagonal board featuring numerous intersecting grid points, with a smaller central hexagon that has specific placement restrictions at the start. Each player receives a set of 18 pieces in their respective color, consisting of various shapes covering straight lines, angles, and triangles that occupy either two or three intersection points. The board starts completely empty, and players keep their entire set of pieces readily available as their personal supply before the game begins.

The main goal of Pünct is to create an unbroken connection between two opposite sides of the hexagonal game board using only your own playing pieces. This connects the game to abstract connection games, where creating a continuous chain from edge to edge secures victory.

Players take turns performing a single action, starting with white and alternating thereafter. On each turn, a player may either place a new piece from their supply onto any empty intersection point or move an existing piece already on the board. Placement requires covering exact intersection points without using the central hexagon for the very first move. Moving allows a player to slide a piece along straight grid lines, either rotating it around its central 'pünct' point or shifting its position. Certain restrictions apply: pieces cannot be placed under bridges, and covered pieces cannot move until uncovered.

Scoring in Pünct is entirely determined by successfully bridging opposite sides of the board. Only the uppermost pieces in stacked configurations count toward the winning connection, and adjacent pieces of the same color are considered connected regardless of the stacking height, as long as the topmost layer forms the path.

The game ends as soon as one player successfully connects two opposite sides of the board with an unbroken line of their own pieces, declaring that player the winner. If a player runs out of moves or pieces without making a connection, the game can end in a draw.
