Quacks

To set up the game, each player receives a personal cauldron board, a cloth bag, a droplet marker, and a scoring marker. The droplet marker is placed on the starting space of their cauldron track, and the scoring marker is placed on the '0' space of the central scoring track. Each player also receives a set of starting ingredient chips (seven white '1' chips, one orange '1' chip, and one green '1' chip) which are placed into their cloth bag. The ingredient books are set up in the center of the table, displaying the available chips for purchase, and the round track marker is placed on the '1' space.

The objective of 'Quacks of Quedlinburg' is to accumulate the most victory points by the end of the game. Players earn victory points primarily by successfully brewing potions, which allows them to advance their scoring marker on the central track. Additionally, strategic purchasing of new ingredients to improve their bags and utilizing special abilities can contribute to their final score.

Each round consists of players simultaneously drawing ingredient chips from their personal bags and placing them into their cauldrons. Each chip has a numerical value, and players advance their droplet marker that many spaces around their cauldron track. Players can continue drawing chips as long as the total value of white chips in their cauldron does not exceed seven. If a player draws a white chip that causes their total white chip value to exceed seven, their pot 'busts', and they must stop drawing chips for the round.

After all players have either stopped or busted, scoring occurs. Players earn victory points equal to the number on the space their droplet marker reached. If a player's pot busted, they must choose between taking victory points or coins, but not both. Players also collect coins for reaching specific spaces on their cauldron track, and may gain additional bonuses or activate special abilities based on the chips in their cauldron or the event card for the round.

The game concludes after nine rounds. Once the final round's scoring is complete, players add up their total victory points from the scoring track, any bonus points from collected rubies, and points from any remaining ingredient chips. The player with the highest total victory points is declared the winner.
