Quoridor

To set up Quoridor, place the game board in the center of the play area. Each player selects a side of the board as their baseline, taking ten fence pieces and placing them into the slots along the outside edge of that side. Each player then places their chosen colored pawn on the center space of their baseline row. In a two-player game, the other pawns are returned to the box, while a four-player game utilizes all four sides and pawns with five fences each.

The primary objective of Quoridor is deceptively simple: you must be the first player to navigate your pawn across the entire game board to reach any single space along your opponent's opposite baseline.

On each player's turn, they must choose one of two available actions: move their pawn or place a fence. Moving allows the pawn to step one space horizontally or vertically into an adjacent square, though you can also jump directly over an opponent if pawns are face-to-face. If a fence is directly behind the jumped opponent, you may move diagonally instead. Alternatively, you can place a fence between squares to obstruct paths, provided you never completely block off all possible routes to an opponent's goal.

Quoridor does not feature a traditional point-scoring system or intermediate victory points. The game is entirely win-lose, determined solely by who reaches the opposite side of the board first.

The game immediately concludes the exact moment a player successfully moves their pawn onto any of the nine designated spaces making up their opponent's starting baseline, instantly declaring that player the winner.
