Setup
Each player takes 10 fences and places their pawn in the center of their starting line on the board.
The rules, step by step
Setup
Each player receives 10 fences and chooses a pawn. Players then place their pawns in the center of their respective starting lines on the game board. For a 4-player game, each player receives 5 fences.
Objective
The primary goal of the game is to be the first player to move their pawn across the board and reach any space on the opponent's starting line.
On your turn
During your turn, you have two possible actions: either move your pawn or place a fence. Pawns normally move one orthogonal space. If your pawn is adjacent to an opponent's pawn, you can jump over it. If the jump is blocked, you can move diagonally to an adjacent space next to the opponent's pawn. Fences are placed between two blocks of two squares, and you must always ensure that a path to the goal line remains open for all players.
Scoring
There is no scoring in the traditional sense; the game is won by the first player to successfully navigate their pawn to the designated goal line on the opposite side of the board.
Game end
The game concludes immediately when a player's pawn successfully reaches any square on the opponent's starting line, declaring that player the winner.
Tips
In the Pac-Man variant, Pac-Man's objective is to eat all four energy pellets and has three extra lives. The ghost players aim to capture Pac-Man three times. Pac-Man moves two orthogonal spaces per turn, with the ability to turn or move backward. When Pac-Man eats an energy pellet, they stop, consume it, and gain three extra movement spaces for that turn. If this movement leads Pac-Man to a ghost's space, the ghost is eaten and removed from the board. Ghosts move one orthogonal space per turn. If a ghost has a clear line of sight to Pac-Man at the start of its turn, it moves two spaces in that direction. Otherwise, it moves one space in any chosen orthogonal direction. Ghosts cannot occupy spaces with energy pellets. Walls block line of sight, but other ghosts do not.
