Setup

Place the betting board, shuffle and place Prop Bets, Exotic Finish, and VIP cards, arrange money and bonus markers, designate a House player, and place horse pieces on the race track.

The rules, step by step

Setup
To set up Ready Set Bet, first place the large betting board on the table. Shuffle the Prop Bets cards and place the deck face-down on the top-left space of the betting board, then draw the top five cards and place them face-up on the five spaces to the right. Shuffle the Exotic Finish cards and place the deck face-down on the bottom-left space, then draw the top card and place it face-up on the 'Lopp 1' space. Shuffle the VIP cards and place the deck face-down on the bottom-right space. Arrange the money tokens (1, 5, 25, 100) and the black and white bonus markers in piles near the board. Choose one player to be the House, responsible for running the races, and place the race track board near them. The House player takes the two dice and the nine horse pieces. The House places each horse piece on its corresponding green starting grid on the left side of the race track. Other players choose a color and take five betting markers (numbered 2-5) of that color. If there are more than seven or eight players (excluding the House), each player returns one of their number 3 markers to the box. Place the six 'Vinst', 'Plats', and 'Show' markers near the betting board. If the House player also wishes to play, they take the six House Bet markers. You are now ready to play.
Objective
Ready Set Bet is played over four rounds. Each round involves a horse race where players place bets in real-time. After each race, players win or lose money based on their bets. Players can also earn VIP abilities and bet on Exotic Finishes for added excitement. The player with the most money after four rounds is declared the winner.
On your turn
Each round consists of four phases: running a race, placing bets, resolving bets, and cleanup. The House player initiates the race by announcing 'Och de är iväg!' (And they're off!). The House then rolls two dice, announces the sum, and moves the horse piece corresponding to that sum one step to the right, plus any bonus steps indicated on the left side of the track. Bonus steps occur when the same number is rolled twice in a row. Red horses (6 and 8) move one extra step, orange horses (5 and 9) move two extra steps, and blue horses (2, 3, 4, 10, 11/12) move three extra steps. Bonus steps do not trigger on a third consecutive roll of the same number, but a new bonus sequence can start after that. The House continues rolling and moving horses at a brisk pace, providing commentary, while other players place their bets simultaneously. The House must clearly announce when the red line on the track is crossed by any horse, as this indicates how much time is left for betting. When the third horse crosses the red line, the House announces 'Inga fler insatser!' (No more bets!), and no further betting markers can be placed. The race ends immediately when any horse reaches the finish line.
Scoring
After a race concludes, the House marks the winning horses on the betting board using the 'Vinst', 'Plats', and 'Show' markers. Players then resolve their bets. First, players collect winnings for their successful bets from the bank. A winning bet pays out the value of the betting marker multiplied by the 'x' number on the betting space. For losing bets, players pay the bank the amount indicated by the negative number in the red circle on the betting space, regardless of the betting marker's value. If there's no red circle, no loss is incurred. If a player has no money, they don't pay. All players resolve their bets simultaneously. A horse finishing first wins 'Vinst', 'Plats', and 'Show'. Horses finishing second (even if tied) win 'Plats' and 'Show'. Horses finishing third (even if tied) win 'Show'. If two or more horses tie for second place, they all count as second and third place for 'Plats' and 'Show' bets, but horses behind them do not get a 'Show' place. Prop Bets are resolved based on specific conditions, such as a horse of a certain color winning or one horse finishing before another. Exotic Finish cards also have specific conditions for winning or losing. After resolving all bets, players clean up the board for the next round.
Game end
The game concludes after the fourth race. Once all bets from the final race are resolved, players tally their total money. The player with the highest total amount of money wins the game. In case of a tie, the tied players share the victory.
Tips
Players can place their betting markers as quickly or slowly as they wish during a race, but there's no turn order, so speed is key. A player cannot place a betting marker on a space where another marker is already present. Once a marker is placed, it cannot be moved or removed. In a two-player game, bets cannot be placed on the leftmost spaces of the 'Vinst', 'Plats', and 'Show' columns. After the first, second, and third races, players are dealt two VIP cards, choose one to keep, and discard the other. These VIP cards provide ongoing benefits or rule-breaking abilities for the rest of the game. If the VIP deck runs out, the discard pile is shuffled to form a new deck. Some VIP cards, like 'Extramarker', offer a one-time payout when played, but the card is kept. 'Piggyback-insats' allows placing a specific marker on an opponent's already-placed marker, but not two of your own markers on one Exotic Finish card. 'Bonusmarkör' cards function like regular betting markers but have a red circle indicating an additional loss if the bet fails. If the regular rules and a VIP card's text conflict, the VIP card's text takes precedence. For a simpler game, you can choose to play without Prop Bets, Exotic Finish, or VIP cards.
