Riftforce

To set up the game, first separate the 10 guilds into their respective elemental cards (9 per guild) and one evocator card. Each player then chooses 4 guilds. From each chosen guild, one elemental card and its corresponding evocator card are removed from the game. The remaining elemental cards from the chosen guilds are shuffled together to form each player's personal deck. Each player draws 7 cards from their deck. The 5 location cards are laid out in a line to form the Rift, and the Riftforce tracker is placed at the end of the line. Each player places their Riftforce marker on the '0' space of the tracker.

The primary objective in Riftforce is to be the first player to accumulate 12 Riftforce points. These points are gained through strategic play, primarily by eliminating your opponent's elemental cards and by controlling locations on the Rift.

Players take turns performing one of three possible actions: 1. Play Cards: Play up to three elemental cards from your hand. You can play cards of the same number to different adjacent locations, or cards of the same guild type to different adjacent locations. If a location already has your elemental, you can stack new cards on top, keeping the number visible. 2. Activate Cards: Discard one elemental card from your hand to activate up to three of your elementals on the Rift. The discarded card's number or guild type must match the activated elementals. Activated elementals perform their unique abilities, which often involve dealing damage to opponent's elementals. 3. Check and Draw Cards: First, check for controlled locations. For each location where you have elementals and your opponent does not, gain 1 Riftforce point. Then, draw cards from your deck until you have 7 cards in hand.

Riftforce points are scored in two main ways. Firstly, whenever you destroy an opponent's elemental card, you gain 1 Riftforce point. Secondly, during the 'Check and Draw Cards' action, you gain 1 Riftforce point for each location on the Rift where you have at least one elemental card and your opponent has no elemental cards. These points are immediately moved on the Riftforce tracker.

The game concludes immediately when any player's Riftforce marker reaches or exceeds 12 points on the Riftforce tracker. That player is declared the winner. There are no tie-breaking rules; if both players reach 12 points simultaneously due to a single action, the player whose action caused it wins.
