Setup

Place the main board and scoreboard, shuffle ship tiles into the port, sort stone council tiles, set goods and coin pools near the reach, sort player-count setup cards, prepare individual player dice, meeples, and house markers.

The rules, step by step

Setup
The game setup begins by unfolding the main game board and placing the scoreboard nearby with the round marker set to space one. Ship tiles are shuffled and placed face down near the port, then the top tile is flipped face up. Stone council tiles are sorted and placed on their designated spaces. Goods, modifier tokens, and coins are arranged within reach of all participants. Players select their player count setup card for reference. Each player chooses a color, taking the corresponding dice, meeples, houses, and player board. One house is placed on the player board construction platform while the rest are set aside. Eight coins and one good of each type are taken, alongside a randomly drawn character card. Reputation, nobility, and score markers are positioned on zero, except reputation which starts at nine. Determine the first player using the variant rule or roll dice.
Objective
Players take on the role of landowners striving to rise to nobility in the five realms. The primary goal is to accumulate the most victory points by purchasing buildings, housing settlers, and fulfilling diverse demands issued by the stone council over ten rounds.
On your turn
Each round begins with players rolling five dice. Starting with the first player and proceeding clockwise, participants take turns completing actions such as placing a die on valid board locations, completing settler cards, or selling buildings. Dice placement is strictly governed by die values and current reputation limits. Locations include guilds for goods and apprentices, Berk the Clerk's office for modifiers, the White Castle for reputation, the stone council for fulfilling tiles, the cavern tavern for settler cards, the construction yard for building houses, the port for selling goods, and the guild hall for workshops and community buildings.
Scoring
Scoring occurs throughout the game and during end-game calculation. Players gain victory points by completing settlement cards, building workshops, erecting community buildings, satisfying stone council tiles, holding remaining goods, and advancing their marker on the nobility track. Certain character cards and endgame bonuses also grant additional points.
Game end
The game concludes automatically at the end of the tenth round. Players add final bonuses, such as points for remaining goods and final reputation track positions, then compare total scores. The player with the most victory points is declared the winner, breaking ties via houses built, reputation, and coins.
Tips
Plan your dice placement strategically around your current reputation limit to ensure you do not restrict your actions. Prioritize apprentice management in guilds to guarantee steady income and efficient resource conversion during income phases.
