Risk Legacy

Risk Legacy setup begins with players selecting unique factions, each boasting distinct powers and initial assets. The game board is prepared by placing territories, tokens, and sorting cards, including special envelopes and hidden components that will be unlocked throughout the campaign. Players take note of any permanent alterations carried over from previous games, ensuring that every session builds directly upon the history created by the group.

The objective in Risk Legacy evolves across multiple games, starting with standard world conquest goals and expanding into unique faction-specific win conditions. Players must balance immediate tactical advantages with long-term strategic legacy goals, such as founding cities, eliminating rival factions, or controlling specific resource networks.

During a turn, players receive reinforcements based on territories and continents controlled, deploy armies, execute attacks to conquer adjacent regions, and finish by maneuvering troops. Unlike traditional Risk, choices made during turns—such as naming continents, placing scars, or modifying cards—permanently alter the game mechanics and board state for all future sessions.

Scoring and winning in Risk Legacy are tracked per session using designated score sheets, where victors sign the board and earn the right to make permanent modifications. These wins contribute to the overarching campaign narrative, granting lasting advantages and shaping the final state of the game world.

A session of Risk Legacy ends when a player successfully completes their win condition or achieves a campaign milestone. The game concludes permanently after a set number of campaign games, resulting in a completely unique, customized board that cannot be reset, reflecting the history of the players' choices.
