Setup

The game is set up with a starting card, goal cards, gold tokens, and various card decks for players.

The rules, step by step

Setup
The game begins with a central starting card placed on the table. Around it, three face-down goal cards are positioned. Each player receives a hand of cards, and a pile of gold tokens is placed within reach. Various decks of path cards, action cards, and monster cards are shuffled and placed face-down, ready for drawing.
Objective
The primary objective for players is to work together as a team to find the exit of the dark cave. This is achieved by strategically placing path cards to create a continuous route from the starting card to one of the goal cards, which represents the exit.
On your turn
Each player's turn consists of three mandatory actions. First, you must either play a card from your hand onto the board or discard one or two cards. Second, you may optionally move your dwarf up to three steps along the connected path cards. Third, you must draw one or two cards from the appropriate deck to replenish your hand to its full size.
Scoring
Scoring occurs at the end of the game. The team that successfully guides all its dwarves out of the dark cave will count their collected gold tokens. The player with the most gold at the end of the game wins.
Game end
The game concludes immediately when an entire team of dwarves successfully escapes the dark cave by reaching one of the goal cards. Once this condition is met, players proceed to count their gold to determine the winner.
Tips
Action cards offer unique abilities, such as looking at face-down goal cards or other players' hands, which can be crucial for strategy. Equipment cards provide ongoing benefits, like extra movement or the ability to defeat monsters. Monsters like rats, tapeworms, and goblins have specific movement patterns and effects on dwarves, such as reducing hand size or immobilizing them. Spiderwebs can block paths and require an axe to clear. Always refer to the rulebook for detailed explanations of all special actions and monster effects.
