During the game, you will encounter three types of cards: Spells, Creatures, and Defense. Spells represent a one-time effect that is executed immediately, and the card itself then goes to the discard pile. Creatures and defense, on the other hand, remain in play in front of the wizard in a row until the opponent destroys them. The order of the cards placed in the row matters because the cards in the middle are protected by those on the edges.

The game features a large number of unique cards, each with non-repeating effects. Each match provides new possibilities and combinations of individual game effects. Therefore, you must adapt your gameplay strategy based on what is currently available in the wizard's store. In addition to cards, there are three types of tokens and crystals in the game, representing the freezing effect. This allows you to, for example, cast a curse on your opponent that gradually poisons them or freeze them to prevent them from casting further spells.

Ve hře vstupujete do souboje čarodějů a vaším cílem je prostřednictvím kouzel, bytostí a lepší strategie porazit svého soupeře. Nákupy v čarodějnickém obchodě postupně vylepšujete svůj balíček karet a připravujete se na to, stát se mistrem magie. Můžete si zvolit cestu temných kleteb, ničivého ohně, svazujícího mrazu nebo lesní moudrosti. Ke všemu ale potřebujete velké množství magické síly, kterou není snadné získat. Část svých karet proto musíte použít jako zdroj magie a poté se rozhodnout zda útočit, budovat obranu nebo nakupovat nové karty, které vám časem mohou pomoci k vítězství. Při hře narazíte na 3 typy karet. Kouzla, bytosti a obranu. Kouzla představují jednorázový efekt, který se realizuje ihned a samotná karta poté jde na odhazovací balíček. Bytosti a obrana oproti tomu zůstávají ve hře vyloženy před čarodějem v jedné řadě, dokud je soupeř nezničí. Záleží přitom na pořadí vyložených karet, protože karty uprostřed řady jsou chráněny těmi na kraji.

Ve hře je celkově velké množství unikátních karet, jejichž efekt se neopakuje. Každá partie proto poskytuje nové možnosti a kombinace jednotlivých herních efektů. Svojí herní strategii proto musíte přizpůsobit také tomu, co lze právě nakupovat v čarodějnickém obchodě. Kromě karet jsou ve hře také 3 druhy žetonů a krystaly, představující efekt zmrazení. Na soupeře můžete díky tomu např. uvrhnout kletbu, která ho postupně otráví nebo ho zmrazit a zabránit mu sesílat další kouzla.
