The rules, step by step
Setup
Place the black game board, which has nine raised squares, in the center of the table. Each player selects a color and takes all the pieces of that color. If playing with 2 players, each player takes two complete sets of pieces. If playing with 3 players, each player chooses one color and takes two extra cubes and two extra rectangular pieces from the fourth, unused color. The remaining pieces of the fourth color are returned to the box.

The objective of Skybridge is to score the most points by strategically placing your pieces to build tall towers and connect them with bridges. Points are calculated at the end of the game based on the height of your towers and the successful placement of bridges.
On your turn
On your turn, you must select one piece from your reserve and place it onto the game board. The first rule of placement is that a piece must always be placed on the lowest possible level. Initially, this means placing pieces on the board itself (level 0). As towers are built, the lowest possible level will be the top of the shortest tower that can accommodate your piece. The second rule is that you cannot place a piece of your color directly on top of another piece of your color. If the lowest possible level is occupied by a piece of your color, you must find the next lowest available level that is not occupied by your color. If no such level exists, you can place your piece on a level immediately higher than the lowest possible level, even if it's on top of your own color. Bridges can be placed horizontally or perpendicularly, connecting two towers of different colors, provided they are at the same height and on the lowest possible level.
Scoring
Points are awarded at the end of the game. For each tower, the player whose color is at the very top of the tower scores points equal to the total height of that tower. Additionally, if a player has successfully placed a bridge connecting two towers of different colors, and that bridge is of their color, they double the points of both connected towers. This means the height of both towers is added together and then multiplied by two for the player who owns the bridge.
Game end
The game concludes when all players have placed all their pieces from their reserves onto the board, or when no more valid moves can be made by any player. At this point, players calculate their scores based on the height of their towers and the bridges they have successfully placed.
