Setup
The game is set up by placing the map of France in the center of the table. Each player receives a player screen and a designated starting supply of train pieces drawn randomly from a bag, depending on the player count. All players begin with one train of each color in Paris on the map, representing the central hub of the French railway network.

The main objective of Paris Connection is to strategically build train routes across the French countryside to connect cities and rural spaces. Players invest in different train companies throughout the game, aiming to maximize their ownership in the most lucrative networks to secure the highest victory points by the end of the session.
On your turn
On each turn, a player chooses one of two available actions. They can either trade one train from their personal supply back to the pool to take two trains of a different color, or they can place between one and five trains of a specific color onto valid hexes on the board, following adjacency and placement restrictions.
Scoring
At the conclusion of the game, victory points are awarded based on the final position of each company's marker on the scoring track, which moves forward whenever players place trains of that color. Each player's score is determined by multiplying the number of trains they hold in each network by that network's point value.
Game end
The game reaches its conclusion when one of two end-game triggers occurs: either a player successfully builds a train network all the way down into Marseille, or the supply of trains for any single company is completely exhausted. Once triggered, the current round finishes and final scores are calculated.
