Snowdonia

The game board is set up with a train line leading up a mountain, featuring various stations and track sections. Rubble cubes (brown) are placed on designated spots along the track and stations. Resource cubes (red for iron ore, grey for stone, black for coal) are placed in a supply bag. Player pawns (workers and surveyors) are placed at the starting pub. Event cards are shuffled and placed face down, and bonus cards are also shuffled and placed in their designated area. The weather marker is set to the starting position, and train cards are laid out at the bottom of the board.

The primary objective in Snowdonia is to accumulate the most victory points by the end of the game. Players earn points by contributing to the construction of the train line, which includes excavating rubble from track and station spaces, laying track segments, building station structures, purchasing trains, and fulfilling conditions on bonus cards. While players collaborate to complete the train line, individual scores determine the winner.

Each turn, players take turns placing their workers on available action spaces. Actions include excavating rubble from track or station spaces (the amount of rubble removed depends on the current weather marker), building track segments (by spending metal bars and placing an ownership cube), building station structures (by spending stone cubes and placing an ownership cube), exchanging resources (iron ore, stone, or rubble for other resources), or purchasing trains (by spending metal bars). Some actions may also allow players to gain additional workers or move their surveyor up the mountain.

Victory points are scored in several ways. Players earn points for each rubble cube they clear from a station space, with higher-level stations offering more points. Laying track segments also awards points, with ownership cubes placed on completed tracks. Building station structures provides points based on the specific station section. Owned trains at the end of the game contribute points as indicated on their cards. Finally, bonus cards offer various one-time benefits during the game and end-game scoring opportunities based on specific achievements, such as clearing a certain amount of rubble or laying a number of tracks.

The game concludes when one of two conditions is met: either the last piece of track is laid to complete the train line to the top of the mountain, or a specific event card is drawn that triggers the end of the game. Once the end-game condition is triggered, final scoring is calculated, and the player with the highest total victory points is declared the winner.
