Setup
Place the board between players and have each person take five matching pieces placed behind their starting lines.
The rules, step by step
Setup
To set up Squadro, place the game board in the center of the table between the two players. Each player chooses a color, light or dark, and takes the five matching pieces of that color. Players arrange their five pieces behind the printed starting lines on opposite sides of the board, making sure the front sides of the pieces point toward the opposite end of the board.
Objective
The main goal of Squadro is to be the cleverest tactician and the first person to successfully navigate four of your pieces all the way across the board to the opposite side and then back to your original starting side.
On your turn
Players take turns moving one of their pieces forward. The number of spaces a piece moves depends on the dots printed on its current space in that row. If a piece reaches the far end, it flips around and stops, and from then on it uses the new speed shown on its reverse side. If your movement causes you to jump over an opponent's piece, you must stop on the next available empty space, and any pieces you hopped over are sent backward to their starting or turnaround positions.
Scoring
Squadro does not use a traditional point-scoring system. Victory and progress are tracked entirely by how many of your pieces have completed the full round trip and been removed from the board.
Game end
The game immediately concludes the moment one player successfully guides their fourth piece out of the grid after its complete round trip. That player is instantly declared the winner of the match.
Tips
Plan your moves carefully to avoid getting knocked backwards by your opponent. Try to time your advances so you can jump over rival pieces, setting them back while safely pushing your own team forward toward victory.
