Star Trek: Ascendancy

In Star Trek: Ascendancy, players begin by selecting iconic factions such as the Federation, Klingons, or Romulans. Each faction sets up its home system tile, takes corresponding ship miniatures, control nodes, command tokens, and starts with a baseline hand of technology and advancement cards. The galaxy board starts with home systems connected by space lanes, with exploration deck tiles ready to be drawn and placed as players venture outward into the unknown cosmos.

The ultimate objective is to establish galactic supremacy through a balance of military might, scientific achievement, and cultural influence. Players must explore unknown space, colonize or conquer planets, build starbases, research advanced technologies, and develop their faction's unique capabilities to outmaneuver opponents and secure victory.

A game round is structured around distinct phases, primarily the Command Phase. During this phase, players spend limited command tokens to execute various actions, such as moving fleets through warp lanes, initiating space battles, invading planetary systems, commissioning starbases, or drawing and advancing research projects. Managing command token exhaustion and coordinating ship movements efficiently across the expanding star map are crucial for operational success.

Players score progression through specific tokens, notably culture tokens earned via racial abilities, exploring civilizations, and encountering phenomena. Ascendancy tokens represent major milestones, technological breakthroughs, and empire growth. Accumulating these victory resources requires strategic balance between aggressive territorial expansion and steady internal economic development.

The game reaches its conclusion as soon as a player meets the victory threshold by acquiring five ascendancy tokens and four culture tokens. Upon reaching this milestone, the game immediately stops, and that player is declared the supreme victor of the Ascendancy.
