Survive: Escape from Atlantis!

To set up the game, place the main island board in the center of the table and randomly arrange all the terrain hexes on it to form the island. A sea serpent is placed in the center sea space and others are positioned around the outer island spaces. Depending on the player count, each player receives a set of color-coded explorer pieces with secret point values printed on the bottom and a specified number of boat tokens. Players take turns placing their explorers onto empty land spaces on the island and then place their boats in adjacent sea spaces until all pieces are deployed. Remaining sea serpents, whales, sharks, and the special movement die are set aside near the board.

The main goal of Survive: Escape from Atlantis! is to guide as many of your explorer pawns as possible off the sinking island and onto the four safe corner islands. Players must navigate treacherous waters filled with sea monsters while trying to outmaneuver opponents who might sabotage their escape.

During a player's turn, they must complete four distinct phases in order. First, they may optionally play a red special terrain tile from their hand. Second, they perform up to three movement points, which can be spent to move explorers across land, board boats, paddle boats, swim through water, or move boats they control. Third, the player removes one terrain tile from the island according to the progressive elevation rules, checking for special event icons if it has a colored border. Fourth, the player rolls the creature die and moves the corresponding sea monster type according to the rules, applying its destructive effect to any pieces it encounters.

Scoring takes place at the very end of the game after the final volcanic eruption. Each player collects all their successfully rescued explorers from the safe corner islands. They flip them over to reveal the point values hidden beneath and sum them up. The player with the highest total score wins.

The game concludes immediately when the volcano terrain tile is drawn from the bottom of the tile stack. At this point, any remaining explorers and swimming pawns left on the board or in the water are eliminated. Final scoring is then tallied for all safely evacuated explorers.
