Takenoko

To set up Takenoko, place the starting pond tile in the center of the play area and set the gardener and panda miniatures on it. Shuffle the bamboo sections, irrigation channels, plot tiles, and objective cards (divided into gardener, panda, and plot types) into separate decks. Give each player a personal board, action tokens, and a hand of secret objective cards according to player count.

Players aim to score the most victory points by fulfilling secret objective cards. These objectives require growing specific bamboo heights and colors, feeding the panda certain bamboo pieces, or arranging plot tiles into particular pattern formations.

During a turn, players first roll the weather die to determine special conditions, then choose two different actions from available options: drawing and placing plot tiles, taking irrigation channels, moving the gardener to grow bamboo, moving the panda to eat bamboo, or drawing new objective cards.

Points are not scored dynamically during placement; instead, players reveal completed objective cards from their hand when they achieve the condition, earning the victory points printed on that card.

The game triggers its final round when a player completes the required number of objective cards (e.g., nine objectives in a two-player game). After the triggering player finishes, others take one final turn, and bonuses are awarded.
