Tash-Kalar: Arena of Legends – Nethervoid

The Nethervoid expansion introduces a new faction with 18 new cards and a special glass token representing the Gate. At the start of the game, the Gate token is placed off the board. The first being summoned by a player from the Nethervoid faction becomes the Gate, and the token is placed on its space. If a higher-level being is subsequently summoned, the Gate token moves to that new being, making it the new Gate.

The objective remains similar to the base game of Tash-Kalar: Arena of Legends, where players aim to outmaneuver their opponents by summoning beings in specific patterns to score points. However, with the Nethervoid faction, a key part of the strategy revolves around the positioning and abilities of the Gate, as many cards interact directly with it.

During a player's turn, they can summon beings by placing their pieces on the board in patterns matching their hand cards. For the Nethervoid faction, many card effects are tied to the Gate. These effects can include moving the Gate token, causing other pieces to move towards or away from the Gate, or destroying pieces adjacent to the Gate. The variety of effects is extensive, requiring players to carefully consider the Gate's position.

Scoring in Nethervoid follows the standard Tash-Kalar rules. Players score points by successfully summoning legendary beings or by completing specific patterns on the board. The Nethervoid cards introduce new tactical possibilities for creating these patterns and disrupting opponents' formations, often leveraging the unique interactions with the Gate.

The game concludes when a player reaches a predetermined victory point total, or when all pieces of one color have been placed on the board, similar to the base game. The Nethervoid expansion adds another layer of strategic depth, making the endgame even more dynamic as players vie for final scoring opportunities around the Gate.
