The rules, step by step
Setup
TEN is played with 2 to 5 players aged 8 and up, taking about 15 to 30 minutes. To set up, remove cards with four rows if playing with 3 players, or cards with three rows for 2 players. Shuffle the deck and place it beside the play area, leaving room for a market. Each player receives five black silver tokens and round overview cards, plus a start player card to determine who goes first.
Objective
The main goal of TEN is to score the most points by forming the longest possible consecutive sequences of number cards in four distinct colors: green, blue, orange, and pink. Players also collect wild joker cards that can match any number or color, and use money and auctions to acquire new cards.
On your turn
On your turn, you draw cards one by one from the deck, adding their values together while subtracting the value of any currency cards drawn. If your total value exceeds 10 or if the total currency value exceeds 10, you bust and your turn ends immediately without rewards. Each time you draw, you can choose to continue or stop and claim your reward: either all the accumulated number cards or all the accumulated currency.
Scoring
At the end of the game, players score points by evaluating their cards for each color. For every color, you determine the longest consecutive sequence of numbers. Each card in this longest sequence is worth one point. If you manage a full sequence of 9 cards, you gain a bonus point for a total of 10 points. All played cards can only be used once, and the player with the highest total score wins.
Game end
The game ends when a player can no longer draw and flip cards, after which that player finishes their turn. All players then receive one final purchase phase, starting with the player to the left of the last active player, allowing everyone to make final acquisitions before final scoring takes place.
Tips
To succeed in TEN, players must carefully manage the push-your-luck mechanic when drawing cards. Knowing when to stop before busting is vital, and accumulating enough currency allows you to purchase missing cards during market phases and win card auctions whenever jokers are flipped.
