Setup

Separate cards into decks, deal initial market cards, give each player a start card and pieces, and draw hidden resident cards.

The rules, step by step

Setup
To set up Tenby, separate all cards by their backs to form distinct decks including terraces, piers, landmarks, residents, day, and night cards. Place the round tracker board on space one and set out a supply of life ring tokens. Each player chooses a start card, a matching player piece, and a color-coded aid, placing their marker on the night track. Deal initial face-up cards to create the market based on the player count. Finally, each player draws two resident cards, keeps one privately, and returns the other to the bottom of the deck.
Objective
Players act as town planners attempting to recreate the colorful Welsh town of Tenby by collecting and playing cards to construct streets. The goal is to maximize your final score by strategically arranging buildings, landmarks, and special features according to specific scoring rules found on the cards, while fulfilling secret resident objectives over the course of ten rounds.
On your turn
The game plays over ten rounds divided into three phases. First, the night phase has players place their markers onto available day cards in ascending order. Next, during the day phase, players take turns in order of their chosen day cards, performing actions like taking terrace, pier, landmark, or resident cards. Players can spend collected life ring tokens to take extra actions such as revealing new cards or moving existing town cards. Finally, a cleanup phase resets the market, advances the round tracker, and awards life rings.
Scoring
At the end of the game, players score each card in their streets based on its unique range and conditions, such as counting adjacent matching items or entire-street landmarks. White wild buildings substitute for any color. Players also reveal their secret resident cards to score additional points for specific criteria, receiving higher bonuses if their streets are fully completed with sea edges on both ends.
Game end
The game concludes automatically at the end of the tenth round when the round marker reaches the tenth space. Players then tally all points earned from their street cards, landmarks, and resident bonuses. Any leftover life ring tokens are worth zero points. The player with the highest total wins, with tie-breakers going to the player with the most completed streets, then the most resident points.
Tips
Always keep adjacency rules in mind when placing cards, as terrace, pier, and sea edges must match properly. Try to complete your streets on both ends with sea checkmarks to maximize resident scoring bonuses, and save up life ring tokens to pull off powerful extra movement actions when you are boxed into a corner.
