The rules, step by step

Setup
To set up 'The Castles of Burgundy: Special Edition', first, punch out all tiles. Tiles with black sides and a black dot go into the black bag. Other tiles are sorted into their matching colored bags (green, yellow, beige). The bottommost tray holds trading tiles, double hex tiles (which can also go in the green bag), shield tiles, grape tiles, the vineyard insert, and border tiles. On top of the trading tiles, place the solo mode cards. The vineyard expansion boards are stacked opposite each other (deepest part to shallowest) in the tray, then covered with a plastic tray. The middle tray comes pre-packed. The next part is a splitable tray: the four bags go into the large area. Dice should be color-aligned for each player. Bonus tiles (567 on top) need to be paired and aligned with the board. Turn order markers and 100-point victory markers are placed. Standees are optionally replaced by colorful miniatures. Wooden tiles should face the same way for easier setup. Castle tiles are optionally replaced by unique castle miniatures. A plastic cover goes over this tray, and the remaining boards fit on top, with the game board having a special foam cover.

Tips
For solo players, the game includes a 10th expansion with a dedicated solo game. Each solo board has a specific material. Additionally, there's a separate 'Châteauama' mode that allows for solo play against a virtual opponent, mimicking a human player. This bot enables players to utilize most of the different expansions, including the base game, while still using their nice player boards.
