With this expansion the single-player mode is introduced, that is the possibility for a player to unleash the power of the houses in six scenarios of increasing difficulty. Taking on the role of a different house each time, the player will have to confront increasingly stronger and more ruthless enemies to achieve the ultimate victory.

Each scenario has a predefined set-up, where the initial forces of the house are extremely small and are confronted against one or two other houses, scattered throughout the lands of Candelabria. The player, with a limited number of moves, will have to defeat all the forces present on the game board positioned around his goal or, alternatively, defeat all the Candles of the houses present on the board to triumph.

Although it follows the basic rules of the game, this mode has some exceptions, such as:

The Solo-Mode uses the 1-3 player side of the Game Board; The game does not end in 3 Years: the Years progresses as the player deploys and maneuvers, with different rules depending on the scenario and the difficulty. Each scenario can affect: the starting Year, how many moves are needed for the Year to progress, the maximum Year a player can reach; Opposing Houses can have more than 1 Land Flame per Territory: the enemy Houses can field more than one Land Flame per territory. It could happen in many ways (sometimes from the very beginning, depending on the scenario); Tactic Cards are discarded once used: each Tactic Card is discarded after a single use, and can not be acquired again. The symbols regarding the increase in initiative are translated into reading the battlefield better (see next area); 90 unique cards are introduced, to guide the actions of the enemies both in and out of combat. Each scenario will state when the out-of-combat actions of the enemies are taken, and from where the cards are resolved, while in combat the same cards act as a double tactic card that will try to harm the player depending on the theme of the card and the effect resolved; Some unique rules will be added to every scenario, like different winning and losing conditions depending on the narrative and the events that are taking place.

New Mechanics: Mountains

Within the expansion we introduce a new game mechanic: the mountains. This mechanic provides three-dimensionality to the game plan, expanding the strategic possibilities and limiting the movements of the opponents, creating a completely different map placing tiles.

Mountains are high ground, impassable by normal methods, which separate the territories they are placed between by breaking regions in half, or by separating two regions completely. These separations are to be positioned where indicated.

While small divisions might seem little, they’re the key to hinder the development of an enemy force, create choke points and manipulate the map a little more, gaining the full value from movement and bringing out the strength of explorers.
